About the Role

The Assistant Manager Innovation Projects works with the Global Innovation Portfolio Manager to manage and ensure fluid movement between ideation and project delivery stage. The role keeps DP World Group abreast of latest technology trends and manages delivery of a committed portfolio of Innovation projects and programs.

Key Accountabilities
  • Collaborate closely with DP World Group functions to ensure Innovative projects and solutions are integrated into commercial, marketing, supply chain and operational processes.
  • Manage performance of high priority projects, measuring the impact of Innovation outcomes on DP World’s overall business, including customer satisfaction and employee well being.
  • Stay abreast of latest technology and industry related trends showing immersion in cutting-edge technologies, market developments and interesting start-ups, identifying opportunities, risks and key issues in developing innovative solutions for DP World.
  • Managing advancement and deployment of a variety of technologies developing a compelling and creative strategy and business model recommendations around innovation opportunities.
  • Identify big & growing digital apps and how to utilize them in a strategic way across businesses to drive competitive advantage. That will also include piloting & implementing different diagnostic tools, VR & AR capabilities that can be used for different departments and businesses across the Group.
  • Work closely with the Global Innovation Portfolio Manager to continuously improve the current Innovation portfolio and generate new methods and techniques to increase the overall Innovation maturity of DP World.
  • Bring clarity to ambiguous business issues using a structured, hypothesis-driven problem-solving approach.
  • Collaborate effectively in cross-functional project teams using technical knowledge to define technical architecture of solutions and prototypes facilitating positive energy/engagement and helping elevate capabilities of others.
  •  Support the Global Innovation Portfolio Manager in generating reports utilizing Excel and other tools and to provide data mining as well as analytical support.
  • Advise on data quality improvements, providing guidance and input to improve data collection methods, developing tools and resources that can identify data quality problems, and implementing best practices for data accuracy.
  •  Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in harmony with DP World’s values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following:

• Bachelor’s Degree level in Engineering, supply chain, computer science or related technical field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and / or maritime and / or logistics industry and / or business-related fields. Software engineering experience is a plus.

• Personal passion for innovation, new technologies, big data, building products, and creating new businesses.

• Subject matter expertise in augmented reality, virtual reality, IoT, AI, wearable technologies and business processes with a broad understanding of the upstream / downstream implications across functions.

• Exceptional organizational, analytical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills to present clearly, simplify complex topics and influence decision-making as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles.

• Creative as well as analytical thinker with the ability to bring structure to ambiguity.

• Comfortable working with data (analysis, synthesis and interpretation).

• At ease in a facilitation role – helping to stimulate idea generation, or/and co-create ideas.

• A result-oriented team player; accountable, open minded who likes to work in rapid and agile way.

• Strong work ethic with an inherent sense of ownership and responsibility.

• Ability to report on project performance up to Executive level

• Expert in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• Bilingual (in addition to English) would be an asset
