About the Role

People Strategy:   Develop and establish the Region People strategy and plan, set standards of excellence, and support the People teams throughout the region in designing and aligning their strategies and plans.

Implementation of People Objectives:  Act as liaison between Group People department and Regional businesses; Drive Group People initiatives throughout region; Serve as HR expert and centre of excellence for the business, taking leadership and advising the business on all HR matters.

Business Partner:  Advise Region CEO and Region Leadership on all aspects of People department policies and practices; Facilitate region talent reviews, talent development and succession planning, assisting the Regional Leadership in building capabilities, culture and team

Develop People Department Capabilities:  Coach, assess and develop capabilities on the HR teams throughout the region (including region office People team); Continue to develop teamwork, elevate capabilities and credibility, and provide tools and advice to HR teams regularly. 

Steward the Founders Principles and DP World Culture – be an advocate and role model of the DP World Founder’s Principles; Encourage ports, terminals and offices to embrace and develop one DP World culture.


Key Accountabilities

People Strategy


  • Develop a Region People strategy, together with the SVP/CEO - E&R Region, that supports the achievement of Regional business strategies and plans;
  • Analyse situations, diagnose problems, identify key issues, establish or evaluate alternative strategies and solutions;
  • Maximise resources to achieve individual and team objectives that contribute to global and regional goals and plans;
  • Originate and design new practices, ideas, concepts and innovative techniques, where relevant and required for the business;
  • Cascade the Region people strategy to the businesses, and advise and consult with Region People teams to develop local strategies in support of the business and aligned with Group People initiatives;  Adapt strategies and plans, necessary, taking into account diverse cultures and business models across the Europe region, while ensuring consistency and alignment to the greatest degree possible.

 Implementation of People Objectives

  •  Execute the needs of the Region in terms of organisational design, change management and leadership development in response to business strategy.
  • Translate Group People corporate strategy and initiatives into regional People department deliverables. 
  • Study, develop, create and deploy the best approaches, methodology and practices in the area of Human Resources development and management of talent;
  • Ensure that a professional, effective People service is provided to managers and employees in accordance with best practice, market norms and statutory requirements;
  • Provide expert advice on compensation and benefits on par with industry and in line with overall objectives and policies of the Group;
  • Drive a learning culture within the region;  Source, manage and direct relevant in-house and external learning and development programmes to retain  high calibre staff by enhancing their skills and competencies;
  • Direct and drive performance management culture within the team ensuring that staff meet their targets in line with the business goals;
  • Recruit, select, and assign employee, when needed, ensuring equal employment opportunities in recruitment, training and promotion;
  • Ensure that management of people is effectively carried out in the region in accordance with statutory requirements and People policies and procedures.

 Business Partner

  • Align with the SVP/CEO - Europe and Russia Region to ensure the Region People strategy supports critical business requirements;
  • Support the development and management of the senior level talent and succession plans to ensure high calibre business continuity;
  • Build synergistic management teams at regional, BU and corporate level;
  • Foster the development of the senior management team – providing coaching and teambuilding solutions;
  • Provide support, assistance and advice to Region Managers on employment relations issues particularly regarding learning and development, remuneration, employee relations, grievance, and disciplinary issues.

 Develop People Department Capabilities

  •  Provide the People teams with leadership, direction and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills;
  • Foster the development of the Regional People teams, providing feedback, support, training, encouragement and coaching;
  • Lead, manage and motivate team in line with People policies and procedures to ensure they deliver services in line with expectations;
  • Assess the People teams to understand their level of skills and knowledge, help them work efficiently and effectively, and manage future People department succession planning
  • Establish regular two-way communication channels with People teams
  • Maintain and share with Regional People teams an up-to-date working knowledge of employee terms and conditions and employment law;


Qualifications & Experience
  • CIPD qualified, degree or equivalent (desirable);
  • Technical HR skills (Minimum of 10 years of HR-related experience) – preferably having worked in various areas of the HR continuum.
  • Understanding of business; Commercial mindset
  • Service Excellence - true desire and strong commitment to provide a superior leading-edge People service;
  • Influencing skills (Using direct and tailored influencing approaches) - the ability to convince others to agree on or to take a course of action
  • Coaching/Consulting Skills (HRBP experience useful)
  • Project management skills (particularly experience with start-up projects)
