About the Role

The Technical Manager is responsible for the technical performance of all vessels under P&O Maritime management, the management of vessels dockings, builds, modifications, as well as the development of technical project solutions.

 

 

Key Responsibilities are but not limited to
  • Develop budget plans for sign off by GM, in line with BU’s objectives and Company financial policies and procedures
  • Ensure correct account allocation and management of functional expenditure within budget including:
    - training, wages and on costs (including overtime) repairs and maintenance of vessels including dockings and major works

  • Follow expenditure controls to ensure expenditure within allocated budget and established delegations

  • Provide expenditure & commitment details for various financial reports

  • Management of the Technical Team’s input to new projects, tenders and contract renewals for projects and presentation for final sign off on technical costs for such projects. 

  • Maintain Docking reports with total costs and the  works undertaken during the docking
Qualifications and Competencies  
  • Minimum  STCW95 Certificate of Competency as Marine Engineer Class 1 (MOTOR)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marine/Civil Engineering, Chief Engineer certificates (or equivalent) or Naval Architecture qualification and experience

  • Excellent communication and liaison skills in a maritime-related environment with complex customer requirements demanding intuition, innovation and flexibility

  • High level project or management capability covering marine engineering, ship management and ship operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions to satisfy stakeholder objectives and deliver those solutions

  • Skills and proficiency in MS Project, Word, Excel or equivalent applications

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in dealing with complex customer specifications

  • Strong technical knowledge and technical management experience in the Maritime industry

  • Strong report writing, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
