About the Role

 

 As a finance leader, this position plays a critical role in the financial, reporting and business enablement process and corporate functions to achieve their financial initiatives and being the conduit between financial reporting and corporate governance:

 

  • Support the stakeholders with business reporting, strategic analysis and balance sheet and capital planning;
  • Lead the finance function of select investment platform (“InvestCo”) in respect of financial accounting and management reporting;
  • Oversee the budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring appropriate records are maintained for monitoring business performance and seeking shareholders approval where necessary;
  • Ensure compliance with shareholders agreement and coordinate approvals for new investments, capital calls, dividend distributions, expenses allocations, related party transactions, etc.; compliance with investment policies and monitor and report any other financial and regulatory aspects; and
  • Maintain, standardize, update and improve all portfolio companies’ financial models and liaising with InvestCo shareholders to update key drivers and assumptions of the financial models on a regular basis

 

 

Key Accountabilities

Financial Reporting & Governance – 50%

  • Preparation of analytical reports for Board and Management Committees
  • Preparation of Board and committee papers relating to strategy, analytics and insight;
  • Work along with Corporate Finance & Business Development team to evaluate/syndicate new investment opportunities; and
  • Seek timely approvals of budgets/audited financials and ensure appropriate records are maintained to monitor events requiring minority shareholder approval

  • Asset management responsibilities:
  • Develop domain knowledge and expertise to best identify the value of the financial reports and translate into insights for decision making purposes
  • Preparation of periodic investment performance reports and investors capital statements;
  • Managing capital calls, distributions and expenses recharge;
  • Review of annual financial model update submitted by the business units;
  • Analyzing and reporting on key investment KPIs;
  • Provision of specific investment related information to the shareholders required for their accounting and banking requirements;
  • Supervise the accounting of investments in JVs and audit of the accounting books of the investments and JVs;
  • Implement/Develop MIS and improve insight into business and investment performance
  • Coordinate financial accounting and reporting of investment with HO/regional/business units teams.

 

  • Leadership & Partnership – 30%

  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Founder’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
  • Act as the bridge between business leaders and InvestCo
  • Build and foster strong relationships with stakeholders and other partners across the network
  • Work with business leaders and InvestCo to identify and prioritize opportunities
  • Develop or support the creation of business cases with key stakeholders
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Communication & Story Telling – 20%

  • Develop communications such as project updates and summaries, and support awareness-building initiatives drive adoption
  • Be a story-teller by producing and communicating insights that the business can interpret, act on and measure progress

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

 

Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst with 10 years progressive experience (at least previous 3 years as Head of Finance). Strong communication in English and good interpersonal skills.

The role requires a technically efficient individual who can clearly articulate financial and business issues to Board and Management Committees. The role requires the individual to be competent and able to manage a team effectively including following additional criteria:

  • The role requires a self-motivated individual who can see the “big picture” and assess options for improvement of team performance, internal processes and reporting.
  • Have a strategic mindset and provide options to the board and committees to improve profitability and performance
  • The individual must be an efficient problem solver and constantly strive to improve utilization of information and to streamline and automate processes and reporting.
  • Working to deadlines is a requirement with delivery always at a high standard
  • Liaising with external auditors is a requirement
  • Compliance with financial accounting standards
  • Effective management of business units finance functions
  • Job holder is required to set-up processes/reporting along the lines of what existing in the group but tailored to the requirement of minority shareholders
