DP World operates deep sea marine terminals within the Europe and Russia Region; London Gateway, Tarragona, Antwerp, Southampton, Fos, Constanta and Le Havre.  In addition to development projects at; Rotterdam and Yarimca.  We also operate 5 inland/intermodal businesses in Germany and Antwerp and have recently won a concession in Cyprus.

This role exists in the European Head Office located in London. This office is where the SVP and Managing Director for the Region sits alongside regional departments including Finance, Business development, Commercial, HR, IT and Legal. We also have several global departments based in London including Pensions, Internal Audit, Insurance and Heritage. 

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to provide an efficient and cost effective service to the Company, the Defined Benefit Trustee Boards, the Defined Contribution Governance Committee and pension scheme members, in relation to their UK pension arrangements and exposures to industry wide schemes.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilites include, but are not limited to:

  • Co-ordinate the preparation, production and distribution of agendas and papers for the Trustee Boards, Governance Committee and the various sub-committee meetings ensuring they are technically correct, written in plain English and of a high quality and are issued within agreed timescales;
  • Deputise for the Pension Manager as Secretary to the P&O Pension Scheme Trustee Board, SCT Pension Scheme Trustee Board and any associated Sub-Committee meetings, when required;
  • Secretary to the DP World Group Personal Pension Plan Governance Committee;
  • In conjunction with the Pensions Manager, oversee the election of Member appointees to the Trustee Boards;
  • Manage the production of member communications, including Scheme Booklets, Summary Annual Report and Accounts and any other pension communication, to ensure their content is correct in respect of all the Company’s UK Pension Schemes;

  • Secretary to the DP World Group Personal Pension Plan Governance Committee;
  • In conjunction with the Pensions Manager, oversee the election of Member appointees to the Trustee Boards;
  • Manage the production of member communications, including Scheme Booklets, Summary Annual Report and Accounts and any other pension communication, to ensure their content is correct in respect of all the Company’s UK Pension Schemes;
  • Assist the Pensions Manager with the managing of the advisers and third party service providers to the Company’s pension schemes, ensuring good relationships are maintained to ensure the best level of service is provided;
  • Manage the process, including carrying out a full investigation and drafting a detailed response, for any formal member complaints received through the Company’s UK Pension Schemes formal dispute processes, including investigations being pursued by the Pensions Ombudsman.  Ensure all complaints are dealt with in line with the regulatory requirements;
  • Manage, review and maintain the Risk Registers and actions required from the registers, as directed by the Trustee Boards;
  • Review and consider the death benefit lump sum distributions and dependent benefit decisions and provide recommendations to the Trustee Board
Experience/Requirements
  • An occupational pensions related qualification, e.g. APMI or a willingness to study for an appropriate qualification;
  • Educated to degree level;
  • It is essential to be numerate with a basic understanding of accounting;
  • Sound understanding of the technicalities of UK Pensions, the Regulatory Requirements and UK Pensions legislation.
  • At least five years’ experience within an occupational pension environment;
  • Experience in a Secretary role for a Pension Scheme to have an understanding of the tasks required for this task;
  • Demonstrable experience in managing successful projects;
